Can You Relate?

Hello, thank you for being here, and welcome to my blog,

What's on my mind?: "Today, Be aware of every aspect of your life, what adds, what subtracts.  Take action to entertain and invite more of the things that add and dismiss more of the things that subtract"

I'm getting this started to share my thoughts and to reach those of you who can either benefit from them or who want to share your own.  I know that there is a general lack of depth in the interactions between us (people) these days, I feel it, you feel it...we all feel it.  It's widely accepted as the norm and maybe there's nothing wrong with that.  But my goal is to be the musician that stays true to his art and connects with people that appreciate that.  But other than sharing my music with others, and the intimate social interactions I share with my loved ones...I can't say that I am doing much to go against this "surface-culture" on a daily basis.  I'm an outgoing introvert who almost always prefers to be alone when given the choice...yet I hunger to impact lives by sharing my stories, sharing my songs, and sharing my self.  Can you relate?  In a life full of complex responsibilities and upside-down priorities I hunger for the sense of community that our ancestors supposedly shared... and the best way to reach that goal I think, is to utilize the available technology to connect with others in a real way.  If you're still reading this...lets agree NOT to accept the superficial culture that sites like these are often built on.  I'll be sharing some real stuff...and I'd like to hear yours as well.

I guess my point with this talk of connection is this...My music holds great meaning to me, and to share it with others who are receptive feels incredible, learning myself and connecting further with my "self" is extremely fulfilling to me... Intimate in-person conversations and interactions with others have great meaning to me and add to my life in immeasurable ways... yet my connection to others through "technology" does not always feel meaningful...it does not leave me with a sense of fulfillment and I have decided to change that by reaching and connecting with people in a more impactful way using this blog.

I don't have it all figured out yet, but I imagine I will be sharing my thoughts regarding things like my music, the development of my first album, my story, my experiences, and my approach to life (spiritual, physical, and financial well being).  I'm about a quarter of the way there in completing my first album and am looking forward to sharing...This journey is just beginning.

Best,

     -B

Your music is incredible and I think that it's great that you're sharing even more. It's refreshingly real.

Blake, You and I have always shared on a level below the surface but I know exactly what you mean. It can be challenging to make meaningful connections with everyone on electronic platforms. I applauded you for instigating change in your existence and for opening yourself to others deeper selves. Your music is a beautiful and very raw reflection of how you see the world on any given day. Your relationships shape that view. This move on your part will absolutely be a positive step. Very proud of you!
